Privacy & your information

What Brisbane Daily stores, what stays on your device and where third-party services are involved.

Updated 30 October 2026. This page describes the website; Android apps may handle information differently.

Preferences and files on your device

Your theme, dashboard choices, chosen weather locations, world clocks, saved deals, calendar reminders and cached feeds are saved in browser storage where available. There is no account-based synchronisation or site backup of those preferences. Clearing site data can remove them; export important calendar entries first.

The browser Ringtone Maker processes recordings and uploaded audio on your device. The Meme Generator also processes its picture and captions on your device; these are not uploaded to the site owner. Its optional Google Images search opens Google in another tab and sends your search terms to Google. Using its editor does not send that audio to the site owner. Microphone access requires your browser’s permission. Android APKs are separate software: review their permissions and keep copies of important files.

Contact messages

Submitting the contact form sends your email address and message to the site owner’s server-side inbox. A valid email is required so the owner can respond. The site applies a rolling limit of four submissions per hour per email or network, using a hashed network identifier for that check.

Messages are available through authenticated Admin access. There is currently no automatic deletion schedule for the inbox. To ask about access, correction or deletion of a message, contact the owner and identify the original email and approximate date. Do not send passwords, account codes, payment details, medical information or private documents.

Traffic, downloads and security

The site records approximate daily visit totals and download-link presses. These are not exact counts of individual people or completed installations. Visit de-duplication uses a hashed network identifier; the short-term guard records are pruned during later traffic. Download counts store the link identifier, count and last press time.

Network addresses are also used temporarily for request limits. Failed Admin sign-ins use hashed network identifiers for throttling. Admin activity records include events such as sign-ins, theme changes and room closures. The application does not deliberately include submitted passwords in those activity records.

Admin cookies and online games

Admin uses a secure, HTTP-only, same-site session cookie lasting up to eight hours. Use Lock Admin when finished, especially on a shared device. Online games store player display names and game state on the server, with a browser seat token used to recognise your player. Room codes and player names can appear in the public lobby; use a nickname and avoid personal information.

External services

News photographs and banner images can load from external image hosts, which receive normal web-request information. Weather, event, sport and journey searches are passed to the relevant data providers. Locations you type into weather, clock or transport searches are used for those searches; the site does not request your device’s GPS location.

Opening an external news article, map, provider page or Google Drive download takes you to that service, whose own privacy and access terms apply. Hosting and network providers may keep their own operational logs. BrisDaily’s aggregate counters do not require Google Analytics tracking scripts.
