Getting to the Gabba by bus, train and on foot

Choose a bus or train connection for cricket or AFL at the Gabba, compare the walk from South Bank, and find the right place to catch your return shuttle.

Choose your arrival: bus, train connection or walk

The venue publishes an approximately two-minute walk from Woolloongabba bus station, 25 minutes from South Bank and 40 minutes from Queen Street Mall. These are broad venue estimates, not measurements to your ticketed gate. For a train trip, compare a city bus connection with alighting at South Bank and walking; use the planner result for your actual service.

Major-event shuttles: save the correct return stop

Translink lists four shuttle corridors. Use the event listing to confirm whether they run for your match and during what period. Regular bus stops and temporary shuttle stops are not interchangeable.

  • City shuttles do not serve Adelaide Street or Roma Street. If your train arrives at Roma Street, plan the connection to an actual pickup stop.
  • Save the corridor and return street with your ticket. After the match, follow event staff rather than assuming you depart where you arrived.

Woolloongabba station exit and your ticketed gate

The venue currently describes Main Street access from both bus-station platforms during major events, but from platform 1 only at other times because of Cross River Rail construction. A pedestrian overpass has lifts and stairs. Follow the signed route on the day; construction access can change.

  • Read the gate on your ticket before walking around the stadium. The venue map helps connect a gate with your seating section.
  • Gate colour groups published by the venue are yellow (1, 2, 3, 11), dark blue (4, 5), maroon (6, 7, 8) and teal (9, 10).
  • Load mobile tickets before reaching the queue. Keep enough phone battery for entry and your journey home.

Is transport included with a Gabba ticket?

Use the specific Translink event listing to confirm ticket eligibility, travel area, modes and time window. The Gabba getting-here page describes eligible pre-purchased tickets covering specified rail, Brisbane City Council bus and event shuttle travel; Airtrain is excluded. Do not assume a free-entry domestic match, a ferry trip or an unticketed companion has the same entitlement.

  1. Find your exact event on the official event-transport page.
  2. Read its travel conditions and check any service changes for your line.
  3. Have the eligible event ticket ready to show; otherwise use the normal fare arrangement for your journey.

Accessible arrival, drop-off and facilities

The dedicated accessibility page identifies a permit-controlled drop-off/parking zone near Gate 5 on Duke Street, between Vulture and Linton Streets, with spaces allocated first come, first served. Arrange the details with the venue before relying on a space. This is separate from general public parking, which is not available at the stadium.

  • Ask staff at your ticketed gate for the suitable route to your seat; designated accessible seating is step-free or lift-served.
  • The venue lists accessible toilets and a Changing Places facility on level 2 near Gate 9. Use its facilities map or ask staff for the nearest option.
  • If a connection or longer outdoor walk would be difficult, compare the actual accessible planner itinerary and venue assistance before choosing it.

Getting home after cricket or AFL

Set up the return journey before leaving home. Cricket may finish early or late, and a rain interruption can change when you want to depart. A saved outbound trip is not a return timetable.

  1. Save one expected departure and a later alternative in the journey planner.
  2. Choose a meeting point away from the busiest gate queue and tell your group which shuttle corridor or regular bus you need.
  3. After play, check official disruption links and the signed queue for your route.
  4. If you have time before a daytime match, use the free Brisbane day itinerary for a separate outing; allow enough time to transfer to the venue.

Questions before you go

Can I just park at the stadium?

There is no general public stadium parking. Event-day street restrictions also apply. Confirm any permit-controlled accessibility arrangement separately with the venue.

Is South Bank always the best train station?

No. Compare your train line, transfer time, gate and walking needs. South Bank is an option for a longer walk; a city bus connection may suit another trip better.
