Getting to PA Hospital by public transport

Plan public transport to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Woolloongabba, with bus arrivals, Park Road connections and campus shuttle information.

Prepared for Brisbane DailyChecked

Desk-researched from the official sources below. Routes, access and timetables should be checked for your travel date; this is an independent planning guide, not a hospital or Translink service.

Bus arrivals at the hospital

Metro South lists PAH bus station on the hospital grounds and street stops on Ipswich Road and Cornwall Street. Select your arrival in the journey planner, then compare the final walk to your appointment building. Route availability can change with your travel time.

Rail connections

The hospital’s current transport page directs rail passengers to Park Road and its connecting busway. Check the live planner for the best train and onward connection. Do not treat a nearby rail station as a guaranteed step-free walking route to every hospital department.

The Ipswich Road shuttle

Metro South lists a wheelchair-accessible shuttle between Ipswich Road and the main building, operating on weekdays during stated daytime hours. Confirm the timetable on the official transport page before relying on it for an early, late or weekend appointment.

Campus works and the correct entrance

Use the hospital map linked from the official transport page. Check current expansion notices too, as construction can affect how you approach buildings. Save the clinic’s name and location rather than relying only on the general hospital address.

Plan to the appointment, not just the campus

Set the journey planner to arrive before your appointment. Add your own buffer for the walk, finding reception and check-in. Save the building name, floor and clinic from your letter. Timetables do not include the time you may need inside a large hospital.

Check a return trip before you leave

Use the expected finish time as a starting point, then compare a later service in case the appointment runs over. Check official disruptions. If a delay means you may be late, contact your clinic using the number on your appointment letter.

Accessibility and a simple backup

Ask the hospital about the entrance nearest your clinic and any assistance you need before travelling. Compare the final walking section as well as the bus or train. Save a campus map and appointment details so you can ask staff for help if your phone battery runs low. Our phone battery guide can help you prepare.
